In the face of ongoing campus demonstrations and student protests over the Israel-Hamas war, Columbia University cancelled its live classes Monday. That decision came as demonstrations and other forms of unrest began to sweep across several campuses.
The tensions at both Columbia and other colleges followed the arrest of more than 100 students who had set up a pro-Palestinian encampment on Columbia’s campus following last week’s congressional testimony by president Nemat (Minouche) Shafik about antisemitism.
