NY weather: Rip current statement for part of New York until Thursday night

A rip current statement was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 3:53 a.m. valid for Thursday between noon and 9 p.m. for Brooklyn and Queens as well as Nassau County. "Dangerous rip currents expected," comments the weather service. "There is a chance for thunderstorms in the evening." "Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," says the weather service....
