I stepped out on the porch at 5 this morning (June 26). The air was dry and cool, a relief after two days of tropical humidity at dawn. Bird life was stirring. Mourning doves were chanting their eerie call. I could hear the rusty swing set like call of a sandhill crane down the coulee.
