Wildfire smoke aloft in the atmosphere hovered over the greater San Francisco Bay Area Wednesday, blocking sunlight and turning the sky a dark, orange-shaded hue.
The reddened sky cast a sepia tone and made the world outside look like Mars or a scene from the 1982 dystopian sci-fi film "Blade Runner."
Even with a thick blanket of toxic air overhead, the air on the ground seemed relatively fresh and you couldn't smell smoke.
